Commonly Asked Questions for NDIS
Q: How are my NDIS funds managed?
Once you’re given your NDIS plan, proper money management is vital so you don’t run out of funds for services.
There are 3 ways you can manage your funds:
- Self manage (highest difficulty): you do it all yourself.
- Plan Managed (medium difficulty): you authorise an NDIA-approved accountant to pay invoices on your behalf.
- NDIA Managed (lowest difficulty): approved providers claim directly through the NDIA portal.
Your best option depends on your circumstances and how your NDIS funds have been allocated. If you’re unsure of your options, ask us today.
Q: How do I find a service provider?
Finding a provider is in your hands. This is a huge positive for choice and control, but it can be daunting knowing where to begin. One place to start is chatting with friends and family for service recommendations.
In our experience, most people need more than just one type of care service. Finding multiple providers, negotiating costs and coordinating different services can get confusing and time consuming. A Support Coordinator can alleviate the workload to better connect you with the services you need. But accessing this service depends on how your NDIS funds have been allocated. If you’re unsure, we can help look at your NDIS plan to see if this option is available for you.
Q: Do I have to stay with one service provider?
No, you can pick any providers that suit you best. This can include personal care, help at home, respite care, Support Coordination and more. You can shop around, use different providers, and change services and providers at any time.
With our range of care services and flexible shift options, we can integrate effortlessly with any providers and services you have.
Q: What is Support Coordination?
Support Coordination means that help is available to help you navigate the NDIS, so that you or your loved ones can get as much value from the NDIS as possible. This comes in the form of a NDIS plan Support Coordinator.
Most NDIS participants have funding for Support Coordination under the Capacity Building Category. You have choice and control to change Support Coordinators any time you wish to do so.
